Welcome to my blog.

My name is Wessam Nassar, a Sr. HR Professional with over 25 years of diverse experience in the telecoms sector. I am starting this blog as part of my graduate studies and also as a space to explore how technology can support learning, especially for adult learners and professionals. As someone who works full time while continuing my education, I am very interested in practical ways that technology can make learning more accessible, flexible, and meaningful.

In this blog, I will be sharing reflections on course readings and insights from technology-related learning blogs. I may share examples of tools or strategies that can support learning in professional settings. I hope to connect theory from class with real-world practice and to think critically about how technology can improve learning experiences rather than simply add more tools.

Through this class and the blogging experience, I hope to develop a better understanding of how adults learn and how technology can be used to support that process. As this is my first experience in blogging, I want to improve my ability to reflect on learning and communicate ideas clearly in writing. Blogging will give me the opportunity to think more deeply, reflect on what I am learning and how it applies to my current and future work with adult learners.

My goal is to use this blog as a learning space where I can document my growth, question assumptions, and explore new ideas about technology and learning. I am looking forward to seeing how my thinking develops throughout the semester.

Building a Personal Learning Network as an HR Professional

After reading about Personal Learning Networks this week, I understood that PLN is not just a list of people or accounts to follow online to have a big network, but a system of relationships and resources that support continuous learning. The TeachThought articles emphasized that PLNs are built through ongoing social interaction, shared problem-solving, and access to different perspectives.  One idea that stood out to me is that PLNs evolve over time. The “Stages of PLN Adoption” reading explains that people often start as observers, then gradually move into sharing and contributing. This makes sense to me, especially in professional HR settings, where people may hesitate to speak up until they feel confident in their knowledge. I see this in myself as well. What Makes a Blog Engaging?

After reading several technology and learning-related blog posts over the past two weeks, I noticed a few common features that make blog posts engaging and useful. Among the most important elements is clarity. The bogger focuses on a specific idea or problem and explains it in an easy-to-understand way, especially for readers who may not be experts in the topic. Another important factor is relevance. The blog posts I found most engaging were those that connected technology to real learning situations, such as classroom practices, workplace training, or professional development. When writers include examples, personal experiences, or brief case studies, the content feels more practical and easier to apply to real-life situations.
